Peter Schierl-Montfort

Sports has always been important in our family – both to play it and to watch it.  When the skiing season was on, I would be out for a couple of hours in the morning with my friends going up (there was no lift) and down the slopes as fast as we possibly could.  And, again as fast as we possibly could, we would get back home for lunch and then watch the “big boys” on TV competing in the World Cup – racing down slopes such as those in Val Gardena, Kitzbühel and Wengen.

I have also played several other sports (e.g. soccer, tennis, cycling and motorsports) and followed all major sporting events passionately since my childhood.  My passion for sports has also influenced my decision to study communications and to start my career as a sports journalist for a newspaper.

Besides my work as a political scientist and author, I am still actively engaged in sports administration with the International Fistball Association (IFA).  And, I have written a sports novel (in German language) – “90 Minuten Konfetti” (2020, Verlag Nina Roiter), which tells the story of Austria’s first soccer World Cup title in 2026.

Combining my passions for sports and writing, I look forward to sharing stories and articles about historic and current sports events and personalities through this platform.
